Saturday 2nd May-Saturday 30th May Cornish Bottle Exhibition

You are invited to visit the Cornish Bottle Exhibition which will be on display in the Daniel Gumb room, curated by The Cornish Bottle Archive Team. The display will feature a selection of bottles dating up to 1939 from the museum collection and a selection private collections. This exhibition is part of a touring series celebrating 50 years since the last major bottle exhibition in Cornwall.

The archive team are currently recording all Cornish known bottles to share with the community through their online museum. To find out more go to www.thecornishbottlearchive.co.uk

Watercolours for Emily Saturday 6th June 10:30-12:30

Join us for Watercolours for Emily ~ a special in-person workshop celebrating the amazing life of humanitarian and pacifist Emily Hobhouse on the centenary of her death.

Emily Hobhouse was born in St Ive, just outside of Liskeard and spent much of her life campaigning for the rights of women and children including during the Boar War. 

One of Emily’s favourite past times was watercolour painting so it seems fitting that on the 100 year anniversary of her death that we celebrate her life and work with this beautiful hobby. 

This workshop is aimed at anyone over the age of 5 years.

All materials and refreshments are provided although you are welcome to bring your own art materials. 

We will have copies of Emily’s work on display and large photographs of the house and church where Emily grew up which has inspired this session.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just love to dabble, this event is all about getting creative with watercolours and honoring Emily’s incredible spirit. Come, relax, paint, and connect with fellow art lovers in a friendly, laid-back setting. Don’t miss this unique chance to blend art and history!

We will be joined for the day by guest speaker Brian Caddy from Crosswires Consultancy Ltd. near Looe. Brian is a computer systems engineer who has spent the last 20+ years working in the tech industry.

Dive into exciting activities that bring history to life and discover the tools people used to connect before smartphones. Perfect for home-educated kids curious about the past and the future of tech.

This is our final session of this academic year. Home education sessions will start again in September however feel free to join us across the summer holidays for a wide range of activities.
